William “Bill” E. Unger, 77, returned to his heavenly home on May 9, 2021 after a valiant battle with a long illness. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
Bill was born to the late Grace Madeline and Thomas Unger in Annapolis, MD on May 26, 1943. He was immersed in the Christian community, where he was the Chairman of the building committee for Agape Christian Church and current member of Cross Lane Community Church. He was active in the community serving as an honorary board member of the Boys & Girls Club of Terre Haute and board member for the Terre Haute Country Club. He served our country in the 181 st Engineering Battalion in the Vietnam War and continued to serve many years as the Company Commander for the Army Reserves in Terre Haute.
Bill was blessed with a large and loving family. He married his best friend and love of his life, Caroline Unger, more than 55 years ago where he helped raise his 2 boys with patience, kindness and unconditional love. Throughout his life, he led his children and grandchildren with impeccable Godly character and integrity, leaving a legacy that will last generations. Bill is survived by his wife, Caroline; his sons Mark and Kevin; his daughter-in-laws Suzi and Amy; his grandchildren Madison, Mason, Matthew, Hannah, Grace, Emma, Joshua and Samuel; his brother, Bob Unger; and sisters, Betty, Nan and Dorothy.
