WILLIAM R. SOULES, SR. William R. Soules, Sr., 86, of Terre Haute died early Sunday morning, October 6, 2013 in Signature Healthcare of Terre Haute. He was a retired Railroad Conductor having worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad, Penn Central Railroad and Conrail. Bill was born July 25, 1927 in Terre Haute to Randolph Slater Soules and Marie Black Soules. His wife, Bette Fern Merritt Soules, died on January 4, 2006. Survivors include his son, William R. "Randy" Soules II and his wife, Janet, of Terre Haute; his daughter, Bettina Ramey and her husband, Mike, of Terre Haute; a granddaughter, Danielle Strole and her husband, Jason; and a special friend, Amelia Higham. Bill was a graduate of Gerstmeyer High School and served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a member Rio Grande Baptist Church, Lawton Byrum Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #972, Krietenstein American Legion Post #104, Terre Haute Social Masonic Lodge #86 F & AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, Kerman Grotto, a lifetime member of Zorah Shrine where he was very active with the Drum & Bugle Corps and Retired Railroadmans Association. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, October 10, 2013 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Pastor Gene Jeffers officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park with Military Honors provided by Krietenstein American Legion Post #104. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, October 9th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. with a Masonic Memorial Service to take place at 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home.
