William W. Sisson, Sr.

William W. Sisson, Sr., 86, of Cory, Indiana passed away Friday afternoon June 19, 2020. Bill was born July 9, 1933 in Frankfort, MI to Orval S. Sisson and Mary G. Wright Sisson. Bill married the love of his life over 67 years ago, Marjorie F. Anderson Sisson, who survives.

Other survivors include three children, Roseanne Waite (Gary) of Cory, IN, Susan Hacker (Tony) of Cloverdale, IN and William W. Sisson, Jr. of Terre Haute, IN; nine grandchildren, Sarah Reeves (Justin), Molly Warren (Ande), Benjamin Waite (Lauren), Kenny Waite (Ashley), Justin Hacker, Angela Hacker, Ashley Hacker, Amy Sisson and William Sisson III; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Wright Sisson and Robert Sidney Sisson; and a sister, Carolyn Jane Smith.

Bill was a graduate of Fayette High School and received his Bachelor and MBA degrees from Indiana State University. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and a member of Cory Zion Church. He was a dedicated employee at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology for 31 years. He retired as Director of Placement and Corporate Relations and served as the advisor and mentor for the Sigma Nu chapter where his influence will continue through the Bill Sisson Sigma Nu Scholarship Foundation established in 2013. Bill was very active in the Wabash Valley community having served on several boards of directors, foundations, commissions, and committees. Bill was honored with the 2016 Golden Hoosier Award which recognizes individuals for their lifetime of service and commitment to their communities. Though there were endless professional accomplishments, Bill made his biggest impact as a husband, father, grandfather and friend. He loved his family and took tremendous pride in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren's many accomplishments. His career would lead him to rubbing elbows with prominent business executives, yet he treated them just the same as the server at his favorite restaurant. His ability to connect in meaningful relationships with everyone was infectious. Throughout his life and up to the end, Bill had a bright smile and a word of encouragement for everyone he met.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, June 24, 2020 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Dr. Jerry Caskey officiating.
