William R. Osmon

William R. Osmon, 84, of Terre Haute IN, passed away on October 22, 2021. William was the son of the late Adams Osmon and Caroline (Craft) Osmon. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lena Lee (Babs) Kasubjak, Patricia (Mike) Lohrmann and Sue (JD) Kreilein.

He is survived by his wife, Sedonya (Poland) Osmon of 64 years and son Keith (Arlene) Osmon and son Michael Osmon, along with 4 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren. Brother-in-Law Mike Lohrmann and many nieces and nephews.

Bill grew up in Hillsale, IN, was an eagle scout , played on the high school basketball team and graduated from Hillsdale High School. He went on to receive his undergraduate degree from Indiana State University. He continued his education at the University of Florida earning a Masters Degree and finished his education at Indiana University where he received a PhD in Psychology and Educational Research in 1965.

Bill started his 37 year career at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, IN in 1965 in the Admissions Department. He filled many roles from Dean of Admissions, Registrar to Vice President of Student Administrative Affairs. He finished his career at ISU in 2002 as Assistant to the President and served as Chair of the Educational Psychology Department and was a graduate studies Professor.

Bill was active in coaching his two sons in Little League and was involved in the startup of local Y Indian Guides program. He was a friend to everyone and enjoyed teaching and helping others of all ages. In retirement Bill was very active in the Mansfield Covered Bridge Festival in Parke County, Indiana and looked forward to celebrating his birthday there.

A celebration of life service will be held at the World Gospel Church, 900 Gardendale Rd, Terre Haute, IN 47803, on Saturday, October 30, 2021 with Pastor Ben Burdick officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am with the service starting at 12:00 noon with a luncheon to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospitals or Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, IN.  The Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
