WILLIAM J. LLEWELLYN, SR. William J. Llewellyn, Sr., 86, of Terre Haute died Monday, October 14, 2013 in Springhill Village. He was a former owner of Marathon Service Stations located at 25th Street & College Avenue and also at 23rd Street & Wabash Avenue. Most recently Bill was a retired salesman with Woodburn Graphics, Inc. He was born September 18, 1927 in Terre Haute to Ralph E. Llewellyn and Gwendolyn Werner Llewellyn. Survivors include his two sons, William J. Llewellyn, Jr. and his wife, Derri, of Terre Haute and Bradley R. Llewellyn and his wife, Lynne, of Brazil, IN; a brother, Dr. Ralph E. Llewellyn, Jr. and his wife, Peggy, of Terre Haute; a brother-in-law, Robert Lowry of Sullivan, IN; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 niece; and 5 nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; both of his wives, JoAnne Cliver Llewellyn in 1977 and Zoe Miles Parks Llewellyn in 1999; and a sister, Martha Lowry. Bill was a 1945 graduate of Wiley High School and received his bachelor's degree from Indiana State Teachers College. He served on the Vigo County School Board. Bill was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy. His memberships included Euclid Lodge #573 F & AM, Scottish Rite of the Wabash Valley, Zorah Shrine, Elks Lodge #86, Sycamore Club, Strawberry Hill Cannoneers, Lawton Byrum Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #972 and Wayne Newton American Legion Post #346. Bill had resided at The Wyndmoor Retirement Community for several years where the staff and friends he made were like a second family to him. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Springhill Village and Hospice of the Wabash Valley for the excellent care of Bill. A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, October 18, 2013 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street with Pastor Rick Swan officiating. A Memorial Visitation for family and friends is scheduled prior to services from 3:30 - 7:00 P.M. on Friday. Private burial will take place in Roselawn Memorial Park.
