William Frederick "Fred" Decker

William Frederick "Fred" Decker, 60, of Terre Haute passed away early Friday evening, October 13, 2017 in Union Hospital. He was a retired Firefighter with the Terre Haute Fire Department, having retired in 2011, and had also worked for Dever Distributing. Fred was born December 24, 1956 in Terre Haute to Frederick Decker and Rita Long Decker.

Fred was a graduate of Terre Haute South High School where he excelled in sports. He attended Indiana State University. He was an avid fan of many sports but especially the Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago Cubs. The loves of his life were his wife and his two daughters.

Survivors include his loving wife of 32 years, Pam Lacey Decker; two daughters, Carly Decker of Chicago, IL and Caitlin Decker of Indianapolis; his mother, Rita Coleman-Alsop of Terre Haute; his brother, Kevin Coleman (Kathy) of Brownsburg, IN; two nephews, Patrick Coleman and Matthew Coleman; one niece, Emma Coleman; and the sister he never had, Rhonda Long-Sharp, her husband, Scott Sharp and their children, Chad and Nicole.. Also surviving are his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Cheryl Wright and Robert Wright of Terre Haute; father-in-law, Donald R. Lacey of Terre Haute; seven brothers-in-law, Matthew Wright of Utah and Michael Wright, Christopher Wright, John Wright, Bill Wright, Christopher Lacey and Michael Lacey all of Terre Haute; two uncles, Ralph Long and Larry Long; several cousins; and his best friend, his dog Pupcake. He was preceded in death by his father; and his beloved step-father, George Alsop.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 P.M. Private burial will be in Highland Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers are preferred and may be made to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Vigo County, 1101 South 13th Street,Terre Haute, Indiana 47802; Terre Haute Humane Society, 1811 South Fruitridge Ave., Terre Haute, IN 47803; or to A.S.P.C.A., https://secure.aspca.org/donor.
