Wayne E. Hamilton, Sr.

Wayne E. Hamilton, Sr., 91, of Terre Haute passed away Wednesday evening, July 17, 2024.  He was born December 21, 1932 in Vigo County, IN to William Hamilton and Thelma May Dean Hamilton.  His wife, Clella Norton Hamilton, preceded him in death in 1982.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Wayne Jr. and Bobbi Hamilton of Terre Haute;  2 granddaughters and their spouses;  3 great-grandchildren;  his twin brother, William E. Hamilton (Joan) of Terre Haute and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Donald Lee Hamilton;  and two sisters and their spouses, Thelma Pauline Lemmons (Rene Sherman) and Betty Kneller (Charles).

Wayne served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  He had worked at the former Quaker Maid Company and retired in auto body repair from Vigo Dodge and Terre Haute Chrysler.  After retirement he continued to work as a courier for Terre Haute Savings Bank.  He was a life member of VFW Post #6574, a member of American Legion Post #328 and Eagles Aerie #291.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 23, 2024 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Pastor Rod Maris officiating.  Burial will be in Highland Lawn Cemetery with Military Graveside Honors.  Visitation is scheduled prior to services on Tuesday from 9:00-11:00 AM in the funeral home.  If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to VNA/Hospice of the Wabash Valley, 400 8th Avenue, Terre Haute, IN 47804.  Funeral information and tributes may be found at www.callahanandhughes.com.
