WALTER L. KINDRICK Walter L. Kindrick, 88, of Terre Haute died Monday evening, January 20, 2014 in Meadows Manor East. He was a chemical engineer with Pfizer, Inc. having worked in Terre Haute, New York and then Lee Summit, Missouri before returning to Terre Haute as Plant Manager until his retirement. Walter was born May 23, 1925 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Colonel Henry Kindrick and Miriam W. Gable Kindrick. His wife, Mary E. Kindrick, preceded him in death in 1994. Survivors include his two sons, Charles Kindrick and his wife, Donna, of Terre Haute and Steven Kindrick and his wife, Leneta, of Tucker, GA; two grandchildren, Sean Kindrick of Atlanta, GA and Regan Kindrick of London, England; two step-grandchildren, Julie Sutliff and her husband, Tracy, of Terre Haute and Jeff Moore and his wife, Carrie, of Clinton, IN; several step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Rosemary Kindrick; and five siblings, Robert Kindrick, Lucille Heady, Margaret Windle, Doris Johnson and Georgia Lee Dunwoody. Walter was a graduate of Kansas State University where he received his Chemical Engineering and Industrial Engineering Degrees and was a veteran of World War II where he served in the U.S. Army 2nd Armored Division. He was an active member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church where he served on the Parish Council and was a member and Past President of Kiwanis of Terre Haute where he was the recipient of the Hixon Award. Walter served on the board of the United Way of the Wabash Valley where he chaired one of their annual fundraising drives and had worked with the Vigo County Economic Development Corporation for several years as a host and industry liaison. He loved to golf and was an avid bridge player. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 25, 2014 in St. Margaret Mary Church with Father Rick Ginther officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, January 24, 2014 in the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street.
