Virginia Louise Schroeder

VIRGINIA LOUISE "GINNY" SCHROEDER Virginia Louise "Ginny" Schroeder, 88, formerly of Terre Haute and Longboat Key, Florida passed away peacefully at Burnsides Community Health Center in Marshall, Illinois on January 31, 2014. She was a teacher and librarian in the Vigo County School Corporation for 27 years. Virginia was born on June 8, 1925 in Terre Haute, Indiana to Raymond and Rose Cler Hipple. On July 29th 1943 she married Jack E. Schroeder at St. Benedict's Church in Terre Haute. Jack preceded her in death in 1989. Virginia was a graduate of Wiley High School and Indiana State University where she earned Bachelors and Masters degrees. She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, Smithsonian Art Institute, I.U. Alumni Association and Indiana State Retired Teachers Association. Virginia enjoyed reading, traveling and being with her family. She was an avid duplicate bridge player and traveled to many tournaments. She is survived by her five children; Jack F. Schroeder (Ruth) of Terre Haute, Joseph R. Schroeder (Alice) of Marshall, IL, Anne L. Schroeder of Westfield, IN, W. Kurt Schroeder of Deptford, NJ and Peter G. Schroeder of Crown Point, IN; and six grandchildren; Nicholas J. Schroeder (Terra), Alan J. Schroeder, Kathryn R. Schroeder, Laura S. Schroeder, Michael J. Schroeder and Zachary P. Schroeder. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 3rd , 2014 at 2:00pm at St. Benedict's Church. Father Edmond Goldbach, OFM will be officiating. Calling will be in the church from 12:00 Noon until 1:45pm. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street. The family kindly requests that memorial contributions may be made to St. Benedict Church Soup Kitchen, 119 South 9th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47807.
