Thomas E. Hays Iii

Thomas E. Hays III, 77, of Terre Haute passed away Sunday afternoon, January 31, 2021.  He was the co-owner of ADCO Advertising Agency.  Tom was born November 14, 1943 in Greenville, KY to Thomas E. Hays, Jr. and Genevieve Adams Hays - Orndoff.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Marianne Reiter Hays; daughter, Debbie Norris of Terre Haute; son, Thomas R. Hays (Yuki) of Volo, IL; three grandchildren, Curtis Patrick of Terre Haute, Michelle Faulkner (Lake) of Marion, IN and Tyler Hays of Volo, IL; his sister, Jane Royse (Randy) of Lakeville, MN; a nephew, Brian Royse (Deanna) of Lakeville, MN; and a great-nephew, Jacob Royse of Lakeville, MN.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas E. Hays, Jr. and Genevieve Hays-Orndoff.

Tom was a 1961 graduate of Wiley High School and attended Indiana State University.  In addition to his work at ADCO, he also had worked at WTWO, ESPN/ABC Motor Sports and Titleist Golf.  He was a long-time member of Terre Haute B.P.O. Elks Lodge #86 where he was a past Exalted Ruler. He was honored by the Governor of Indiana with a Sagamore of the Wabash and he is also a Kentucky Colonel.  Tom loved his family, playing golf, cards and had attended the Indianapolis 500 for 60 consecutive years.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 6, 2021 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25 ^th Street, with Mark Grayless officiating.  The service will be “live-streamed” and can be viewed by visiting www.callahanandhughes.com website and clicking on the “Live Streams” button at the top of the homepage.  Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.  Visitation is scheduled for Friday from 4:00-8:00 PM. in the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 4400 Clayton Ave., St. Louis, MO 63110 or a charity of your choice.  Funeral information and tributes may be found at www.callahanandhughes.com .
