Thomas E. Fears, 84, of Farmersbranch, Texas, died June 27, 2018. He was born on July 7, 1933, to Harold Fears and Helen Pinkerton, in Detroit, Michigan.
Thomas was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Navy. He retired from the Tribune-Star as the assistant to the publisher.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Fears (Evelo), who passed away in November of 2005.
Survivors include his wife, Samantha (Sam) Waldweiler; one sister, Patsy Pruett; a daughter, Adele Daffer and husband Fred; sons, Thomas E. Fears Jr. and wife Angela, Anthony A. Fears and wife Mary, George H. Fears, and Scott D. Fears and wife Debra; grandchildren, Shawn Fears and wife Jennifer, Misty Sue Long and husband Treavour, Dawn S. Fears and significant other Charles Brown, Tabetha Flander and husband Billy, Jeremy Fears and wife Brooke, Ryan Fears and wife Vanessa, Camron Fears and friend Eric, Conner Fears, Mackenzie Fears and Molly Fears; and great-grandchildren, Charles Brown, Kael Fears, Chase Brown, Abby Flander, William Flander, Lacy Flander, Braden Fears, Jensen Fears and, soon to come, Brady Fears.
Services will be at the Carmelite Monastery. Viewing will be from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2018, with a mass at 11 a.m., officiated by Tobias Colgan, OSB.
Pallbearers will be Shawn Fears, Charles Brown, Treavour Long, Jeremy Fears, Ryan Fears, Camron Fears, Conner Fears and Billy Flander.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Carmelite Monastery, Corpus Christi Catholic Church of Destin, Fla., or Ruth Lilly Hospice in Indianapolis.
