Survivors include his parents, Martin & Roni Schmidt of Terre Haute; and his sisters and brothers, Jessica Schmidt of Terre Haute, Martin Joseph Schmidt of Terre Haute, Michael & Hedyeh Schmidt of Los Angeles, CA, Lisa & Christopher Whitaker of Jacksonville, FL, and Christopher & Christen Schmidt, Erik Schmidt, John & Megan Schmidt, and Rebecca Schmidt all of Terre Haute. Also surviving are his aunts and uncles, Ann Miller, Joe & Chris Pestoff, John & Marianne Pestoff, Susie & Dane Dickerson, Margarete Schmidt and Anna Schmidt; seven nieces and nephews; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harry & Dorothy Pestoff and Martin & Mathilde Schmidt; and two aunts, Elizabeth Schmidt and Mary Kay Hanes.
Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, October 24, 2017 in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1807 Poplar Street, with Father Dan Bedel officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled prior to services on Tuesday from 11:00 A.M.- 12:00 Noon in the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street. Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities of Terre Haute, 1801 Poplar Street, Terre Haute, IN 47803; St. Patrick School, 1807 Poplar Street, Terre Haute, IN 47803; or to St. Patrick Soup Kitchen, 1807 Poplar Street, Terre Haute, IN 47803.
