Shirley A. Ashley, 72, of Terre Haute passed away Saturday evening, November 8, 2014 in her home. She had formerly worked as a private duty nurse for Preferred Health Care. Shirley was born January 1, 1942 in Bloomington, Indiana to John Philpott and Emily Butcher Philpott. Survivors include her loving husband of 54 years, Reverend Victor T. Ashley; four children, Victor T. Ashley, Jr. of Terre Haute, Veronica Ashley and her fiancé, Russell Gayheart, of Terre Haute, Richard Ashley and his wife, Dana, of Staunton, IN and Carl Ashley of Terre Haute; two brothers, Jerry Philpott of Arizona and Deward Philpott of Missouri; and two sisters, Sue Alberson of Florida and Vicky Nunn of Missouri. Also surviving are a brother-in-law, Tommy Ashley of Prairie Creek, Indiana; a sister-in-law, Nancy Talaber of Sullivan, Indiana; three grandchildren, John Michael Willis and his wife, Sarah, James Donald Willis and Austin Allen Ashley; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Richard Philpott. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 12, 2014 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled prior to services on Wednesday from 12:00 Noon-2:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Funeral information may also be found at www.callahanandhughes.com .
