Shawn Michael Mccoy

Shawn Michael McCoy, 54, of Indianapolis and formerly of Terre Haute passed away early Saturday morning, December 26, 2020.  He was born November 1, 1966 in Terre Haute to John Walker McCoy and Linda Athey McCoy.

Survivors include his mother, Linda McCoy of Terre Haute;  his brother, Ryan McCoy (Andrea);  his sister, Leslee McCoy;  aunts and uncles, Ron McCoy (Louise), Lynda McCoy, Larry McCoy, Terry McCoy (Rhea), Rebecca Taylor (Leon) and Lisa Bogard (Bill);  and cousins, Dr. Loren McCoy (Caroline), Molly Hood, Kim Johnson (Scott), Johnny McCoy (Lisa), Jacob Nidey (Victoria) and Caleb Nidey.  He was preceded in death by his father;  grandparents, Mary and Earl Athey, and Esther and Loren McCoy;  and an aunt, Sharon McCoy.

Shawn was a graduate of Terre Haute South Vigo High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from Indiana State University.  He had been employed as a social worker for the State of Indiana and was a professional artist as well.  He especially enjoyed painting folk art and seasonal outdoor scenes.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the ICU Nurses at Terre Haute Regional Hospital for the loving care they provided to Shawn.

Memorial services will be conducted at 3:00 PM, Saturday, January 2, 2021 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25 ^th Street, with Pastor Keith Gaddis officiating.  Visitation is scheduled prior to services from 2:00-3:00 PM.  If friends should so desire, memorial contributions may be made to National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016 .  Funeral information is also available at www.callahanandhughes.com .
