Sandra Ann Pence, 77, of Terre Haute, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 31, 1947, in Louisville, Kentucky to Dwight Edmondson Harreld and Norma Louise Kilkelly.
Sandy is survived by her husband, Ralph Pence; her children, Julie Daugherty (Terry) and Daniel Leasor (Jamie); stepchildren, Christy Ellis (Kaleel) and Benjamin Pence; grandchildren, Michelle Daugherty, Ryan Daugherty (Delaney), Kelly Daugherty, Taylor Hughes (Jordan), Hannah Opthof (Derek), Christopher Leasor, Kalea Ellis, Karah Ellis (Joshua), Jackson Pence, Christopher Ellis, Lilly Pence and Khloe Ellis; siblings, Susan Egan (Michael), Dani Reynolds, and Michael Harreld (Suzy), sisters-in-law, Patty Bumphus and Paulette Ahmadi (Cash); and a brother-in-law, Fred Pence (Diana). She was also looking forward to the arrival of her great-grandson, Beau. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, all of whom cherished her and held her in high regard.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Roger Reynolds.
Sandy worked for many years as a banquet server at The Galt House hotel in Louisville. She and Ralph were active in leading and participating in a military family support group during her son’s deployments in Iraq. She was also an integral leader in a cancer support group at the Hux Cancer Center. She loved to go on her walks, generally trekking an average of 3 miles, no matter how tired she was. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her grandchildren. Sandy could always be found at their sporting events, cheering them on from the sidelines. Sandy was kind, warm, loving, and a fighter to the end. Her memory will be treasured.
Visitation will be held from 11 AM to 1 PM on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home. A funeral ceremony will take place at 1 PM, on Saturday, at the funeral home, with Father Ronald Ashmore officiating. Sandy will be laid to rest with family at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
