Sandra Kay Mershon, 75, of West Terre Haute died Sunday, July 31, 2016 in her residence after fighting a two year battle with ovarian cancer. She was born March 1, 1941 in Terre Haute to Ralph Baxter and Pauline Shadley Baxter. Sandy was a retired registered nurse and oncology clinical educator.
Survivors include her husband of almost 52 years, Frank Mershon; children, Leslie Mershon Ling and her husband Quenton, Frank Mershon and his wife Carmen, and Deana Kay Conner; grandchildren, Reghan Wetzel, Mason Wetzel, Cassidy Mershon, Laka Ling, Hayden Wetzel, Kayl Mershon, Ellie Conner, and Sophia Conner; a sister, Carole Daugherty; eight nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Bill Baxter; and one nephew.
Sandy was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church where she volunteered at the soup kitchen and the school, as well as serving as a Eucharistic Minister. She was a founding member of the Illiana Chapter of the Oncology Nursing Society, Co-Director of Camp Bluebird (a support for adult cancer patients and survivors) where an award was named after her, the Sandy Mershon Volunteer Award. Sandy graduated from Otter Creek High School and the St. Anthony School of Nursing.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2016 in St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Dan Bedel officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
