Sandra Aldridge Sandra Aldridge, 76, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, in Union Hospital. She was the daughter of Maurice D. and Maureen Bennett Anderson. Sandra was born April 22, 1939, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and grew up in the Rock Island/Moline and Decatur, Illinois areas where she graduated Decatur High School and later attended Millikin University. Her survivors, all of Terre Haute, include her son, Victor E Aldridge III and his wife Jennifer; grandson, David Zachery Aldridge; and step-grandchildren Richard Ward Turner, Brianna Murphy, Taylor Murphy, and Cadence Altvater. She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor E. Aldridge Jr.; her parents; step-daughter Mary Victoria Turner; and her half-sister, Sadie Strayer of Arizona. Sandra touched many within the community. She served on the Board of Trustees of the Vigo County School Corporation from 1985-1997 as member and vice-president. She also served as member and Vice-President for Administration of the Executive Council of the Wabash Valley Council, Boy Scouts of America. She was a charter member and past president of both the Wabash Valley Association for Gifted and Talented Children and the Vigo County Task Force for Alcohol and Drug Abuse. She served as past president of the Crawford School Parent-Teachers Organization, past president and member of the Terre Haute Lawyer's Auxiliary, she was a former member of the board of directors of the YWCA of Terre Haute, participated in Class IX Leadership Terre Haute, and was a life member and volunteer of the Union Hospital Service League, including being a former officer and member of the board of directors. Sandra had a strong personal connection with God as a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. She was also involved in the Indiana Association for Gifted Children (I.A.G.), Children's Theater, the Swope Art Gallery, Vigo County Historical Society, the Women's Department Club, Arts Illiana, United Way of the Wabash Valley, the Elks Women's Golf League, and the Ernie Pyle Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (formerly The Retired Officers Association). Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00pm on Saturday, May 16, 2015, in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, Terre Haute, IN. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Sunday, May 17, 2015, in St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 225 North 7th Street in Terre Haute with Reverend Drew Downs officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery next to her husband. In lieu of flowers Sandra has asked that donations be made to the Leukemia Society or appropriate charity of your choice.
