Samuel Zoll, 96, formerly of Terre Haute, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2014 in his residence in Aventura, Florida. He was born in New Castle, Indiana in 1918 during WW1. His family moved to Indianapolis where he attended Emerich Training High School. He left high school before graduating and moved to Terre Haute, Indiana where at age 16 he started the business that became Cut Rate China and Glass Company selling restaurant supplies and chinaware. Samuel and his late wife Lillian lived and raised their family in Terre Haute. He was a self-made man, a story teller with a phenomenal memory for detail and history and a natural born salesman. He was a master of math and an avid movie buff. Samuel lived a full and active life, pursuing his business goals and caring for his family until he was forced to retire because of illness and moved to Aventura, Florida in 1983. He exhibited great courage without complaint throughout his illness. He never lost his enthusiasm for life, his wonderful sense of humor, his welcoming grin, his strong sense of gratitude and his love of family. He leaves his devoted caregiver, his sister, three children Cyril Ann Rosenberg, Reid Zoll, and Deborah Altschuler, four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Graveside Services will be at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 in Highland Lawn Cemetery with Rabbi Ysrael Gettinger officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street.
