She was a graduate of Spencer High School in Wisconsin where she participated in band and was a drum majorette.

Sally had worked in accounting at the National Bank of Detroit, Overland Park National Bank, First Financial Corporation, and the Terre Haute Bowling Center. She decided in her late 40’s that she wanted to be a Nurse. She completed her Nursing Degree from Indiana State University all the while working a full-time job. Then she began her career as an RN at Union Hospital and also Health Care Excel, Inc. Sally was an active member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Choir, Ladies’ Altar Guild, and volunteered at numerous other church activities sharing her cooking, baking and artistic talents. She loved to read and participated in book clubs. She was a gifted gardener and maintained beautiful flower beds. On a warm day she could always be found outside tending to her flowers. She was an avid tennis player and her advice to “hit the ball where your opponent isn’t” is still being repeated on the courts today. She had a large circle of friends and a very busy social schedule. Her greatest pride was her grandchildren Jake, Samantha, Emily and Hannah. Her favorite activity was leading her grandchildren in craft projects of all kinds. Sally loved all animals, especially cats. In particular, she loved black cats and had a black cat by her side throughout her life.

The family is forever grateful to Sally’s Personal Caregiver Donna, who cared for her with love and dedication and profoundly enhanced Sally’s life during her final months. The family expresses sincere appreciation for the outstanding care given by Gentiva Hospice, especially Braylin (RN), Jackie (Nurse Aide), and Chris (Chaplain), as their kindness and compassionate care has been the ultimate blessing. They would also like to give a special thanks Pastor Cockran for his gracious and devoted support. His visits to Sally’s home for prayer, communion and spiritual reflection brought peace to her life.
