Ruth Ann (Ahlemeyer) Myer Pirtle, 87, of Terre Haute passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015 in Westminster Health Care Center. She was born August 15, 1927 in Terre Haute to Victor Odel Ahlemeyer and Bertha Delzenia Kord Ahlemeyer. She taught for 25 years at many schools including Prairie Creek High School, Bowling Green High School, Clay City High School, Dugger High School, and Ivy Tech Community College. She was a member of the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church. In her younger years she enjoyed yard work, tending to her flowers, crafts and serving others. She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister Lucille Mary Ahlemeyer, a brother William (Bill) Ahlemeyer, her first husband, William Raymond Myer in 1970 and her second husband Melvin Eu "Gene" Pirtle in 2000. She is survived by a step-daughter Delana Bailey, a step-son Terrey Pirtle and a step grandson Brock Bailey all of Terre Haute and a sister-in-law Helen Ahlemeyer of Columbus, IN. She is also survived by her extended family Terry, John, Bill and Mike Bones, Tommy and Phillis South, Janie Rosa and Georgia Roberts all of Terre Haute and all of her wonderful neighbors. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, March 5, 2015 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Reverend Aaron Wheaton officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 and one hour prior to services on Thursday.
