She was a loving mother to Rex Henry (Carla) and Jo Ellen Thompson (Tom) and the proud grandmother of Kirsten Morrison (Jason) and Megan Cates (Chad) of Terre Haute and Justin Thompson (Abby) and Lindsey Holbrook (Bret) of Indianapolis and great-grandmother of Ben and Sophia Cates, Will and Zach Morrison, and Annabelle Thompson.
Ruth was very active in community affairs such as the Indiana State University Wives. She was a Golden Age Member of First Baptist Church and served as the loving arms and face for the church's two-year-olds for more than thirty years. Ruth was known and loved for her generous hospitality to all she encountered. She was a kind, loving, and generous person dedicated to serving others. Ruth will be forever loved and missed by her family and friends.
The visitation for Mrs. Henry will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 PM, Friday February 24th at First Baptist Church, 4701 E Poplar Drive, Terre Haute, IN 47803. There will be a memorial tribute at First Baptist Church on Saturday at 2:00 PM with additional visitation one hour prior to the service and a reception following the memorial. A private burial service will be conducted.
Although Ruth was a lover of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made instead to the Children's Ministry of First Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street.
