Ruth G. Harden

Ruth G. Harden, 93, of Terre Haute passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2013 in Southwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born October 2, 1919 in Clay County, IN to Albert D. Diel and Verna Jeffers Diel. Following her graduation from Cory High School and attending Indiana Business College she worked at Commercial Solvents and Quaker Maid. During that time she married Harvey J. Harden. After marrying Harvey, she worked with him in his trucking business. After Mr. Harden's death in 1980 she became a Personal Caregiver for 20 years. Ruth was well known throughout the area as a faithful member of Zion Community Church, good friend, and gracious host. In her home, there were no strangers. She was a friend to those of all ages. She always wore a smile, full of life and laughter. Ruth will be missed by many. Survivors include her two nephews, Jerry Long and Jeff Long; four great nephews; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Harden; her parents; and a sister, Ruby Long. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, August 5, 2013 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, Terre Haute, IN with Pastor Jerry Caskey officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled prior to services from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. on Monday. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Zion United Church of Christ or the Cory Apple Festival Fund.
