Ruth Field

March 17, 1922 — January 20, 2016

Ruth Priscilla (Dickey) Field, 93, of Terre Haute, passed away at home on Wednesday, January 20, 2016. Her daughter was with her. Ruth was born to Morris Dickey and Ethel Duncan Dickey in Clay County, IN on March 17, 1922. She was a graduate of Clay City High School and the Brown Business College. Ruth worked at the Griffith Mill in Clay City and later during World War II, worked at Allison in Indianapolis. However her most valued job was as wife and mother. On July 12, 1946 she married her best friend and the love of her life, Carroll C. Field. They were always just ruthandcarroll.all one word and inseparable till his death in February 2006. They traveled to every state except Alaska and Hawaii and visited every state capitol and major points of interest. They traveled to Mexico and throughout Canada but their favorite spot was Oceanside in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Ruth was artistic and loved gardening and landscaping. She could create beauty out of the most unusual bits and pieces. She is survived by her only child, daughter, Dinah Vasbinder and her husband Carroll, and her best canine friend Winston. Heart to Heart Hospice provided extraordinary care as did Dr. Jon Stockrahm. Amy and Trish provided much love and care and medical attention and she adored them both!
A Celebration of Ruths Life will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Monday, January 25th 2016 in Callahan Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Reverend Rebecca Zelensky of Central Christian Church, Disciples of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Clay City, IN. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, January 24, 2016 from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home. The family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to either of the foundations that Ruth was passionate about: The Michael J.
