Roy Edward Griese, 57, passed away in his residence on Thursday, December 10, 2015. He was born July 11, 1958 to Herbert H Amelia Francis Griese. He married the love of his life, Donna Reedy, on April 30, 1988 in Terre Haute, IN., and she survives. He is survived by his 4 children: his Precious Pooh, Kayla Griese (Chuck Tidd), Melissa Griese, Matthew (Jessica) Griese and Jacob Griese (Melissa Smith); He is also survived by his seven grandchildren: Kenzer, McKade, Kylie, Amelia, Christian, Julian and Joci. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Zachary. Roy was a very talented saxophone player, who played from his heart and soul. He was voted most valuable band member while attending Chauncey Rose. He was a member of the Henderson Legion Cadet Band. He graduated from Terre Haute North in 1976, where he continued his love for music. During his time at Terre Haute North, he went to the Orange Bowl as part of Queens Band and he marched in the Lights On Parade. He played in such Wabash Valley bands as: Little Dippers, Jackie Lynn and the Heartland Express, Short Notice, Custom Made and Jus Playin Jayne. In 2011, Roy was inducted in to the Wabash Valley Musicians Hall of Fame. Roy was loved by many who didnt even know his name, they just knew his sound. Those who did know Roy loved his spirit and his passion and will miss him dearly. We know that he is playing with some of his favorite musicians in heaven. A memorial service celebrating Roys life will be Wed. Dec 16, 2015 at Callahan Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S 25th St from 4pm to 7pm. At this service, the family would like anyone who would like to come and share a special memory or story to please do so. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family or on line at https://www.gofundme.com/83ed4fpg to help pay for funeral expenses as Roy did not have insurance.
