Roxine H. Koenig

Roxine H. Koenig, 89, of Terre Haute passed away early Tuesday morning, December 14, 2021.  She was retired as President of Koenig Scale Company of Terre Haute.  Roxine was born June 23, 1932 in Freeport, Illinois to Ralph Fitzgerald and Erline Tallman Fitzgerald.  Her husband, Clarence Koenig, preceded her in death in 1985.

Survivors include her three children, Chris Koenig (Mary Polinsky) of Missoula, MT, Stacy Bear (Larry Schoolcraft) of Coos Bay, OR and Kurt Koenig (Mary) of Terre Haute;  two grandchildren, Kevin Koenig (Brooke) and Samantha Redmon (Rick) both of Terre Haute; two great-grandchildren, Isabella Goodman and James Koenig;  and her sister, Penny Fitzgerald of Madison, WI.

Roxine was a graduate of Monroe (Wisc.) High School.  She and her family have owned and operated Koenig Scale Company for over 60 years.  Upon Clarence’s death in 1985, Roxine continued to operate the company with her son, Kurt, until her retirement in 1999.  Roxine was very active in the Terre Haute community having been a member of League of Terre Haute, 50 year member of the Newcomers Club, Swope Alliance, T.O.B.Y., PEO Chapter AW, Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce, Rose-Hulman Board of Associates, S.C.O.R.E., YWCA where she was a former board member, Country Club of Terre Haute, 50 year member of the Girls Bridge Club, Family and Social Services Administration (Friend to Friend) and was a former member and Treasurer of the Kiwanis Club of Greater Terre Haute.

The family would like to offer their special appreciation to Jean Ann, Lindsay, Lou Ann, Marian and Terri for the wonderful and loving care they provided to Roxine.

Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, December 19, 2021 from 1:00-4:30 PM with a Celebration of Life to follow at 4:30 PM, in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25 ^th Street.  Private family burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe, WI.  If friends should so desire memorial contributions may be made to Wabash Valley Community Foundation, 200 South 8 ^th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47807 or to the charity of your choice.  Funeral information and tributes may be found at www.callahanandhughes.com .
