TERRE HAUTE - Ross Matthew Woodburn, 56, of Monteagle, TN, passed Thursday, December 24, 2020, in his home after a gallant battle with a rare type of M.S. known as NMO.
Matt was born in Terre Haute, IN, on December 30, 1963, to Ross Woodburn and Kathryn Farmer Woodburn. He developed a keenness for learning at a young age and spent his spare time studying and reenacting American and European military history making many lifelong friendships and enriching his proficiency with worldwide travel.
Matt enjoyed a fulfilling career with Ramsey Solutions of Franklin, TN (formerly the Dave Ramsey Lampo Group) and retired as the Chief Operations Officer and member of the Board of Directors. Matt was a Master Mason of Franklin, TN, Harim No. 7 Blue Lodge. Prior to joining the Ramsey Group, Matt spent 19 years working in the family automotive parts business in Terre Haute and Indianapolis learning invaluable perception from his stepfather Julius Loeser.
Matt married Allison L. Freemon of Nashville, TN, on December 10, 2001, in the governor's mansion at Williamsburg, VA, and located in Franklin, TN, later adding a lake house in Monteagle, TN. Matt and his wife donated a wing to the Mercy Healthcare for All Children Clinic, naming it after his parents. He was a member of the Brentwood Baptist Church in Nashville, TN, where he and his wife participated in Bible studies. Matt graduated from Terre Haute South High School in 1982, was a member of National Honor Society and lettered in track, swimming and football. He attended Indiana University from 1982 to 1986 where he earned a bachelor of science degree in business and was a member of Chi Phi Fraternity.
Matt was preceded in death by his great-grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Leo and Louise Farmer, grandparents Dr. and Mrs. H.W. Farmer, Mr. and Mrs. Gershon Loeser, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Woodburn Sr., Aunt Mrs. Jeanie Woodburn Ogden and father Dr. Ross W. Woodburn, DDS, AAO.
He is survived by his parents Julius and Kathryn Farmer Loeser, brother Jeff Loeser and wife Cathy Loeser, and niece and nephew Madison and Jordan Loeser. Also, his Aunt Mrs. Mary Francis Farmer Conrad, Uncle Dr. J. Phillip Farmer and Aunt Kay Stewart Farmer, Uncle Edwin and Aunt Anita Loeser, and Uncle Ed Ogden; cousins Susan K. Dawson, Greg, Laurie and William Farmer; William Phillip Farmer, Kathy Farmer Combs, Brad Combs and children Jack, Ted and Charles, Adam and Seth Loeser and families, Bill, Ed and Susie Ogden, Craig and Karen Farmer, Mr. Stewart Farmer, Mr. Dwight and Carolyn Farmer, Mrs. Eddie Farmer Christman and Tom Leman and family.
A celebration of life will be conducted at 3:00 PM, Saturday, June 26, 2021 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 215 North 7
th
Street, with The Reverend Drew Downs officiating. Vistation is scheduled prior to services from 1:00- 3:00 PM in the Cloister Room of the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25
