Roselyn Gertrude Dede Coverstone, 93, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 2, where she joined her beloved husband of 70 years and the love of her life, Frank. Roselyn was born on July 28, 1928, to the late Edward Dede and Gertrude Schieber Dede, in Terre Haute. She was preceded in death by her brother, Edmund.
Roselyn is survived and cherished by her five children: Trudy (Tony) Butwin; Tina (Earl) Elliott; Tim (Jane) Coverstone (Port St. Lucie, FL); Tom (Terri) Coverstone; and Terri (Corey) Potter. She was admired and respected by her fourteen grandchildren: Trisha Wright; Tessa Butwin (Baltimore, MD); Dr. Todd Butwin; Megan (Seth) Brown (Mooresville, IN); Emily (Craig) Stamm (Noblesville, IN); Mark (Brooke) Elliott; Drew (Whitney) Coverstone and Ryan Coverstone (Port St. Lucie, FL); Caitlin Coverstone and Thomas Coverstone; Sarah (Andrew) Dougan (Greenwood, IN); Anna (Dougie) Collett; 1st Lt. Zach (Carson) Potter; and Caroline Potter. Her great grandchildren brought her much joy: Luke and Claire Wright, Elliott and Isaac Brown, Maggie and Jacob Moore, Carson Coverstone, and John Douglas Collett. She is also survived by her sister and lifelong best friend, Maryanna Dede Swinford, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Roselyn graduated from St. Benedict Catholic grade school and State High School. She was employed at Hulman & Company until her marriage.
Roselyn lived her Catholic faith. Her life was a testament to her devotion to prayer and family. As a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and daughter, Roselyn spent her life caring for others. With five young children, Roselyn brought in her own father to care for him, as well. Known to her grandchildren as Grandma Rosie, her warmth made each and every one of them feel special. Her daily novenas and rosary guided her incredible life.
Roselyn’s connection to St. Benedict Catholic Church began long before she was born, as her family served as founding members. She dedicated her life to prayer and family. As a lifelong parishioner, she served as President of St. Benedict Mothers’ Club, Altar Society, Offertory Gift Bearer, and participated in parish social and service activities. She was a lifelong member and Trustee of Daughters of Isabella Vincennes Circle. Roselyn was President of the Postal Clerks’ Auxiliary and member of the Postal Supervisors’ Auxiliary.
Roselyn leaves a legacy of family and faith. Her gentle spirit and beautiful smile touched the lives of so many on her journey home to Heaven.
The Coverstone family expresses their gratitude and appreciation to VNA Hospice of the Wabash Valley and Roselyn’s special caregivers.
