Rose May Acrea, 103, of Avon, Indiana and formerly of Terre Haute passed away Wednesday evening, April 15, 2020 at The Hearth at Prestwick in Avon. She was born October 26, 1916 in Terre Haute to Fredrick Monts and Nellie Brown Monts. Her husband, Lester H. Acrea, preceded her in death in 1992.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy S. and George B. Gaddis of Avon; two grandchildren, Gregory Gaddis (Amy) and Steven Gaddis; and five great-grandchildren, Alex, Lauren, Andrew, Morgan and Jalyn. In addition to her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by a brother, John Monts; and two sisters, Ruth Monts Oliver and Dorothy Monts Wilhite.
Rose was a graduate of Bridgeton High School. She was faithful reader of "Our Daily Bread" and enjoyed sewing, gardening and reading. Rose especially loved to hunt mushrooms at her woods.
A private graveside service will be conducted at Highland Lawn Cemetery, Terre Haute with Envoy Sue Linden of The Salvation Army officiating. There is no visitation.
