Roger Greg Scott, 68, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016, in his residence in Hickory, North Carolina. He was born in Terre Haute on December 2, 1947, to Roger Gilbert Scott and Grace Joan Huffman Scott.
Roger was a devoted father, a loving brother, and a great friend to many. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, where he served as a Corporal and fought in the Vietnam War. After serving his country, Roger moved to Florida, where he lived the majority of his life. He joined the reputable architectural and engineering firm of Reynolds, Smith and Hills in 1978 as a highway design and civil engineering technician. He was a dedicated employee of Reynolds, Smith and Hills for 38 years until the time of his passing. Roger lived the final years of his life in Hickory, North Carolina, where he spent his free time following his passion for riding motorcycles in the Appalachian mountains.
He is survived by his three children, Bruce P. Scott, Brett G. Scott, and Jessica S. Scott, as well as his two grandchildren, Kyle and Laurel, four brothers, Stephen, Christopher, Timothy, Mark, and sister, Patricia.
Memorial services and Military Honors by V.F.W. Post #972 will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2016, at Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street, Terre Haute. The family will receive friends prior to the service starting at 12:00 p.m.
