Roberta Janice Shuck

Roberta Janice (Dalton) Shuck, age 84, passed away on August 14th, 2024, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, David Andrew Shuck in 2020. They shared 61 years of marriage together.

Born in Terre Haute, Indiana, Roberta was the daughter of Tipton Dalton and Elsie Throckmartin. Roberta began her career in 1977 with the Concho Arizona School District, working with the Title 1 Reading program. At the age of 49, her passion for teaching led her to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and later went on to earn her Master’s Degree, all while working and raising her 5 children.

Roberta could often be found enjoying a good book, loving her beloved cat, Missy, helping Dave with his music or in search of good treasures at a local garage sale. She will be remembered by her friends and family for her love of teaching young children and her quick wit.

She is survived by her children, Bruce Shuck (Lori), Jane Beck (Bill), Becky Miller (Don), Kevin Shuck (Kathy), Lisa O’Dell, 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her spouse, David Shuck, and Grandson, Britton Shuck.

A celebration of life for David and Roberta, will be held on Saturday, October 12th, 2024 at 2:00pm at Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S 25th Street, Terre Haute, Indiana 47803. Graveside service will immediately follow at Hull Cemetery in Terre Haute, Indiana.
