Robert David Whitworth, 83, of Terre Haute and formerly of Decatur, IL passed away Tuesday November 22, 2016, in Harrison Crossing Health Campus. He was born on January 7, 1933 in Terre Haute to Bryce Whitworth and Mildred O. Holman Whitworth.
He is survived by his brothers, Richard Whitworth of Terre Haute and John Whitworth and his wife Margaret of Terre Haute; a nephew, David Whitworth and his wife Kathy and a niece, Diane Turpen and her husband Darren; great nieces, Elise Whitworth, Meggie Whitworth, Callie Turpen and Audrey Turpen; and his companion, Laverne Schaeffer.

Robert was a 1950 graduate of Wiley High School and later earned his business degree at Indiana State Teachers College. He then worked for Wabash Fiber Box. Robert moved to Decatur, IL and established Decatur Container Corporation. After selling the company, he remained as a salesman until two weeks before his passing. Robert was a member of the Decatur Kiwanis Club and the Decatur Chamber of Commerce. He served his country proudly while in the Army during the Korean War.

No services or visitation are scheduled. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street. Burial of his cremains will occur at a later date in Highland Lawn Cemetery.
