Robert F. Prox, Jr.

May 24, 1926 — October 21, 2019

Robert F. Prox, Jr., 93, of Terre Haute passed away peacefully Monday morning, October 21, 2019 with his daughter Ann Prox, his faithful caregiver, by his side. Bob was born May 24, 1926 in Terre Haute to Robert F. Prox, Sr. and Aimee Kaufman Prox.

He married Louise McFall on June 29, 1949 in St. Benedict Church. She was the love of his life during their marriage of nearly 70 years. Bob was her devoted caregiver the last several years of her life before her passing in 2017.

Survivors include his children, Ann L. Prox of Terre Haute and Robert F. Prox III (Mary Beth) of Terre Haute; his grandson, Bryan Prox (Vanessa) of Terre Haute; and his great-grandson, Jack Prox. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Williamson and Betty Parish; and a grandson, John Prox.

Bob was a graduate of Wiley High School and Indiana University where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He served with the United State Army Air Corps during World War II.

Throughout his 93 years he had many great experiences and loves. He worked at the Prox Company for over 60 years and was President of the Company for over 50 years. He was a lifelong member of St. Benedict Catholic Church and a life-time member of the Terre Haute Boys and Girls Club Board of Directors. Bob was one of the founders of Junior Achievement, served as a Campaign Chairman for the United Way of the Wabash Valley, was member of the Downtown Terre Haute Rotary Club and a member and Past President of the Country Club of Terre Haute.

Bob loved to play golf, go to Las Vegas and build things. He and Louise were fortunate to have traveled over much of the world. He experienced life well. He had a quick wit, loved to have fun and was not afraid to express his opinion. There were no strangers to Bob Prox. Later in life after most of his contemporaries were gone, he made new friends at Westminster Village especially Bob Meissel, Martin Bosterman, Dick Rowe, Gordon Spelbrink and Bob Elsey, Sr. He very much enjoyed his friendships made with the ladies and gentlemen of the Tuesday afternoon bridge game.
