Robert L. Petry

Robert L. Petry, 98, of Terre Haute, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025, in Fishers, surrounded by his family. He was born on May 18, 1926, in Hoopeston, Illinois to Lloyd Philip Petry and Beryl Edith Wicks Petry-Hudson.

Robert is survived by his son, John Petry of Fishers; grandchildren, Jessica Meneses (Juan), Jonathon Petry, Julia Petry (Izriel Bingaman), and James Petry; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Oliver, Jack, and Adalyn; and nephews, George and John Petry.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Krise Petry; a son, Douglas Petry; his parents; and siblings, John “Bub” Petry and Janet Petry-Wilder.

Robert graduated from Wiley High School and from Indiana University Bloomington with a bachelor’s degree in finance. He proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII as a Signalman on the LSM 553. Robert worked as a copy manager at R.H. Donnelly until his retirement. He was a shilling carrying member of the Strawberry Hill Cannoneers. Robert loved to do projects, especially anything to do with home improvement or woodworking. He enjoyed being a homebody and relaxing with an ice-cold beer.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home. A funeral ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, at the funeral home with Pastor Doug Davis officiating. Robert will be laid to rest with military honors in Highland Lawn Cemetery.
