Robert "Bob" Meyers, 91, of Terre Haute passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2019 in his residence. He was born October 1, 1927 in Terre Haute to Michael Meyers and Beatrice Carter Meyers.
Survivors include his children, Sharon (John) Dyer of Milton, FL and John (Tami) Meyers of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Christopher (Kristen) Dyer of Winslow, Maine, Amy (James) Pels of Navarre, FL, Matthew Meyers of Flossmoor, IL, Katie (Zach) Snowden of Terre Haute, IN and Becky (Drew) Stangle of Terre Haute, IN; great grandchildren, Lucas Robert Dyer, Raegan Pels, Asher Pels, Carter Snowden, Bailey Snowden, and Ellie Snowden. Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Janet Meyers; his parents; and siblings, Ruth Combes, Marilyn Hiatt, and Donald Meyers..
Bob was a retired Teamster with the former Transport Motor Express freight line, Anaconda, and the U.S. Penitentiary as a diesel mechanic instructor. He was a member of the 1009 Moose Lodge of Terre Haute, active in his community as a volunteer fireman at Otter Creek Station #1 and held various ranks including many years as fire chief. Bob was a longtime member of the Otter Creek Township Board. He was a 50 year member of the IVFA. He enjoyed restoring International Harvester trucks and tractors and always made many friends while attending various shows throughout the Midwest. He will be deeply missed by his family.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Friday, May 10, 2019 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Ansel Harpold officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled prior to services from 11:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. on Friday. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of the Wabash Valley.
