Robert Thomson Maurer, 97, of Terre Haute passed away Sunday evening, April 14, 2019 in Westminster Health & Rehab. He was a Purchasing Director for Columbia Records. Robert was born December 9, 1921 in Terre Haute to Kenneth G. Maurer and Ruby Myers Maurer. His wife, Beatrice A. Dance Maurer, preceded him in death in 2014.

Survivors include two daughters, Jean Mueller of West Chester, OH and Susan Ballard (John) of Mount Pleasant, SC; a son, Robert Thomson Maurer, Jr. of Danville, IL; a sister, Carolyn Stahl (Michael) of Lake Wales, FL; six grandchildren, Melissa Edkins (Chris), Phillip Mueller (Ellen), Michael Frees, Alyssa Maurer, Alexa Maurer and Lauren Dillard (Craig); five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Maurer, Jr.; and a sister, Virginia Dungan.

Robert was a graduate of Muncie Central High School (Muncie, IN) and received his bachelor's degree from Indiana State Teachers College (ISU). He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II having served in the South Pacific theater. Robert was a member of First Baptist Church, was the founder of the Terre Haute Purchasing Agents Association and was the oldest member and Past President of the Terre Haute Noon Optimist.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Saturday, April 27, 2019 in First Baptist Church, 4701 Poplar Street, with Reverend Bernie Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Highland Lawn Cemetery with Military Honors Provided by American Legion Post #104. Visitation is scheduled prior to services on Saturday from 12:00 Noon- 1:00 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street.
