Robert Lee "Bob" Kennedy, 92, of Terre Haute passed away Friday afternoon, August 22, 2014 in Union Hospital. He was a railroader having worked as a stockman and had also worked in construction and homebuilding with Cash & Kennedy Company. Bob was born November 13, 1921 in Noble, Illinois to Ira Floyd Kennedy and Grace Bernice Fisher Kennedy. Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 73 years, Betty Jane Stokes Kennedy; a son, Jeff Kennedy and his wife, Pat, of Fort Wayne, IN; a daughter, Kaytann "Kay" Archer and her husband, Greg, of Terre Haute; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence Kennedy and Kaley Kennedy; a sister, Betty Bennington; and a grandson, Robert Earl Kennedy. Bob was a veteran of World War II having served with the U.S. Army Military Railway System in Europe. He was a member of United Methodist Temple and a member and past president of Homebuilders Association of Greater Terre Haute, Inc. Bob was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing with his friends at the Country Club of Terre Haute. He and his wife, Betty, also enjoyed volunteering for many years with Meals on Wheels. Memorial services will be conducted at 5:30 P.M. Thursday, August 28, 2014 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Pastor Kevin Drane officiating. Military Funeral Honors will be provided by V.F.W. Post #972. Visitation is scheduled prior to services on Thursday from 3:30-5:30 P.M. in the funeral home. Private burial will be in Highland Lawn Cemetery.
