Robert R. Brown

Robert R. Brown, 76, of Terre Haute, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Union Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born on Father’s Day, June 15, 1947, in Farmersburg, to Archie Brown and Mary Lou Gaskins Brown.

Bob is survived by his children, Robert J. Brown (Lori), Kenneth R. Brown (Gretchen), and Angela K. Ford; his sister, Mona Bennett; his grandchildren, Brandi Kelch (Michael), Kaitlin Brown (Tanner Ridge), Levi Brown (Torrey), Shane McCarthy, and Alexis Ford; and four great-grandchildren. He is also remembered by his sisters-in-law, Diana Kyle (Ron) and Gloria Shoemaker. Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 50 years, Joan Hartman Brown, as well as his parents.

Bob, a proud graduate of North Central High School's class of 1965, continued his education at Indiana State University, where he majored in mathematics and minored in physics. Throughout his life, Bob made significant contributions to the Wabash Valley, excelling as a business owner, a generous philanthropist, and a dedicated community leader. A devoted member of the Maryland Community Church where Bob served as an executive elder. His extensive community involvement included serving on the boards of the Terre Haute Symphony, Wabash Valley Community Foundation, Union Hospital Foundation, ISU Technology, Purdue Advisory Technology, Humane Society, YMCA, Camp Navigate, Village View School, Harvest Prayer Board, and Indiana State Athletics. Additionally, he was a part-owner of the Rex Baseball Team. Bob's legacy of service and leadership touched many lives and will be fondly remembered.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024, at Maryland Community Church, 4700 S. State Road 46, with Pastor Scot Longyear officiating. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A private burial will follow at Highland Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob’s name to Maryland Community Church, Wabash Valley Community Foundation - Joan M. Brown Memorial Fund, or Camp Navigate
