Rita Rosina Neal

Rita Rosina Neal, 91, of Terre Haute passed away Friday morning, December 18, 2020.  She had worked as a secretary, nurses aid and cataloger for the Vigo County School Corporation.  Rita was born August 5, 1929 in Terre Haute to Anthony Bockhold and Gertrude Smith Bockhold.  On September 12, 1953 Rita married Richard J. Neal, who preceded her in death in 2010.

Survivors include her six children, Robert Neal (Kathy) of Westfield, IN, Richard Neal (Linda) of Noblesville, IN, Elaine Holler (Greg) of Indianapolis, IN, Mary Beth Robinson (John) of Terre Haute, Nancy Birchler (David) of Fort Wayne, IN and James Neal (Lucy) of Noblesville, IN; her sister, Mary Ann Davis of Cortland, OH;  grandchildren Tracey Neal Lockhart (Nathan), Jeff Neal (Brighid), Richard Neal, Raymond Neal (Emily), Robert Neal, Travis Holler (Jennifer), Becky Holler Lane (Gray), Dawn Robinson Arrasmith (Brad), Brooke Robinson Mendoza (Mario), Beth Anne Robinson Doner(Carl), Benjamin Birchler, Katie Birchler Barnes, Laura Birchler Ueber(Paul), Kristin Neal, Matthew Neal;  16 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Mary Seprodi Neal; a granddaughter, Sarah Neal; six brothers, Anthony, William, Emil, Edward, Bernard and Leonard Bockhold; and her mother and father-in-law, Richard and Bertha Neal

Rita was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church serving on the Mothers Club, Parish Council, Soup Kitchen and the Alter Society. She was a member of the Schulte High School and the Rose Hulman parents club, a member of the Sycamore Club and the Elk’s ladies Tuesday 9-hole golf league.

Mass and Christian Burial will be conducted with Father Dan Bedel officiating.  There is no visitation.  Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.  A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.  Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25 ^th Street.  If friends should so desire, memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick Church Soup Kitchen, 1807 Poplar Street, Terre Haute, IN 47803.  Funeral information and tributes may be found at www.callahanandhughes.com .
