Survivors include her daughters, Donna McAllister (James), Sharon Akers (Howard), Linda Persinger (Dave), Laura Ahlborn (James) and Sheila Benson; brother, Charles Mahoney; grandchildren, Teresa, Kara, Nate, Heather, Matthew, Jon, Jake, Rita, Hannah, and Monique; great-grandchildren, Brian, Aiden, Evan, Conner, Brynlee, Rita, Leo, Miles, and Maggie; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter M. Ellis; daughter, Barbara Cress; and her parents.
Rita was a loving mother, entrepreneur, senior caregiver, expert seamstress and upholsterer. She was a member of the Honey Creek Garden Club, The Red Hat Society, Holy Rosary and St. Joseph Parishes. She worked at Ann Page, The Pattern Factory, Area 7 Senior Citizens Center, and owned and operated The Atrium Tea Room. The family will hold her close in their memories and forever in their hearts.
Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 in St. Joseph University Parish, 113 South 5th Street, with Friar Savio Manavalan OFM Conv. officiating. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street with a rosary at 7:00 p.m.
