Richard O. Holcomb

Richard O. Holcomb, 83, of Terre Haute passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024 in Union Hospital. Richard was born May 29, 1940 in Terre Haute to Richard O. Holcomb and Martha Ann Jackson Holcomb.

Richard was a graduate of State Laboratory High School and served in the U.S. Army in Korea as an MP and Dog Handler.  He was a member of St. Joseph University Parish and Riley American Legion Post #328.

He worked as a truck driver for Superior Concrete, Indiana Ready Mix and Prairie Concrete.  Richard enjoyed 29 years of retirement and spent his time grilling out, fishing at his home on Fox Lake, and gardening.

Survivors include his wife of over 60 years, Sandra Wallace Holcomb;  son, Richard L. Holcomb (Ary) of Terre Haute;  daughter-in-law, Linda Holcomb of Terre Haute;  three grandchildren, Drew Holcomb (Mir), Chris Holcomb and David Holcomb;  Kim Sia, mother of Drew and Chris;  and two great-grandchildren, Elijah and Eliana.  Also surviving are his sister, Carolyn Hyde (Berk) of Frostproof, FL; brother in law, Andy Wallace (Zoe) of Melbourne, FL;  and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents;  son, Tony Holcomb;  and a sister, Josephine Barnes.

Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Thursday, April 18, 2024 in St. Joseph University Parish, 111 South 5th Street, with Father Tony Vattaparambil  officiating.  Burial will be in Highland Lawn Cemetery.  Visitation is scheduled prior to services from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM in the church.

Friends are invited to attend a gathering at Riley American Legion #328, 5603 S. Lama St., Terre Haute, IN 47802 immediately after services.
