Rebecca "Becky" Joan Garvin passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 14, 2015. She was born to Joan and Robert Crisman on October 16, 1957, in Harvey, Illinois. Becky lived every moment of her life with passion, and all she did, she did with love. Her greatest success in life was her ability to love. She loved and was loved more than can be described through mere words. As a wife to Rod, as a mom to five kids, and as a Gigi to two sweet boys, she lived her life for her family. The life she had was far too short, but it was so full. Becky graduated from Thornwood High School and Indiana State University. After graduation, she worked as a reporter at WTHI TV. She later moved on to work for the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce and Moore Business Forms. Becky spent much of her career at the YMCA, where she became the executive director. After that, she worked at the Terre Haute Boys' and Girls' Club, followed by sales at Yellowbook Hibu. Most recently, she had accepted a sales position with Terre Haute Emmis Radio. Becky was active with many organizations in the area: Tri Kappa, League of Terre Haute, PTA, and every possible organization that would benefit her kids. After successfully beating cancer, twice, she also did volunteer work for the American Cancer Society. It is impossible to capture her life in a few paragraphs. She was so much - she did so much - she is loved so much. She is preceded in death by both of her parents, as well as her husband's parents, John and June Garvin, and several aunts, uncles, cousins and brother in law Charles Garvin. She is survived by her husband, Rod, as well as her children: Nicki and Mike, Ashlee and Luke, Chelsea and Josh, John and Halee, and Ali. She also leaves behind two loving grandsons, Henry and Jackson; her siblings Jim and Tina Crisman, nephews Matthew, her Godson, and Tyler, Roxanne Crisman, Sallie Garvin, John and Janice Garvin and Wendy Garvin, nephews James, Adam and nieces Jeanette, Kimberly and Laura. Visitation will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17 at Callahan and Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street in Terre Haute, Indiana. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, April 18 at 2:00 p.m. at Mount Pleasant United Methodist North Campus, located at 1075 North Fruitridge Avenue in Terre Haute with Pastor Rick Swan officiating. In her honor, the family asks that you make a donation to an area charity that would benefit children.
