Ralph E. Servie, 98, of Terre Haute passed away Thursday, March 24, 2022 in Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care. He was born February 19, 1924 in Terre Haute to Louis Servie and Mamie Myers Servie.
Survivors include his sons, William Parsons (Jamie) and Michael Servie (Mary Beth) of Indianapolis; daughter, Anita Gauer (Phil) of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Julie Norton (Kevin), Andrew Parsons (Cathryn), Annie Compton (Clay), Phillip “Chip” Gauer, Alyssa Banta (Brandon), and Alexandra Servie; great grandchildren, Garrett Norton, Conor Parsons, Grady Parsons, Colton Compton, Elizabeth Compton, Andrew Compton, Grace Compton, and Brecklyn Banta, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ann Duffy Parsons Servie, his parents, his brother, Louis Servie, and his sisters, Helen Gayso and Betty Boyles.
Ralph was the oldest living retired member of the Terre Haute Fire Department starting in 1956 and retiring in 1976, Badge #88. He also delivered for Clark Floral. Ralph was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, K of C, and the Sycamore Club. Ralph loved gardening and continually shared all that he grew with family and friends. He was a World War II Navy veteran.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 P.M. Noon on Friday, April 1, 2022 in St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Ben Syberg officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to mass from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25 th Street. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or the Riley Children’s Hospital Foundation.
