Ralph J. Courtney Ralph J. Courtney, 84, of Terre Haute passed away Monday, April 28, 2014 in Union Hospital. He was born on September 28, 1929 in Terre Haute to Jerome Courtney and Dorothy Beeler Courtney. Ralph was a retired teacher with the Vigo County School Corporation. He was survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Nancy McGuire Courtney. Other survivors include two daughters, Karen Courtney of Terre Haute and Mary Rose Tener and her husband, Thomas of Newburgh, IN. Ralph was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church and past president of The Vigo County Historical Society. He was a graduate of The Laboratory School and Indiana State Teacher's College. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Ralph also enjoyed building his model railroads. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 1, 2014 in St. Benedict Catholic Church with Father Matthew Malek O.F.M., Conv. officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. There is no visitation scheduled. The family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to; The Terre Haute Humane Society, 1811 S. Fruitridge Ave, Terre Haute, IN 47803. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street.
