Prince Jones, 95, of Terre Haute passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 in Union Hospital. He was born June 20, 1917 in Mangrove Cay, Andros, Bahamas. He is the third child of ten children born to Prince Jones and Rosaleen Longly Jones. He received his early education at Swain All Age School in Mangrove Cay, Andros, Bahamas. Upon completion he traveled to the U.S.A. on the contract. Prince was a courier for Terre Haute Med Lab and the Patrick Law Firm. Prince was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Virginia Jones.
Cherished memories will linger in the heart of his two daughters, Veronica Richardson and her husband Perry of Terre Haute and Carmetta Burns of Nassau, Bahamas; adopted daughter, Margaret Smith and step daughter, Elizabeth Cunningham both of Terre Haute; eight grandchildren, Annamae Ferguson, Jestina Virgil, Charlie Burns, Peggy Smith, Prince Timothy, Perry Richardson, Jr., Anthony Jones and his wife Kristina and Eddie Henderson; twenty-one great grandchildren, especially Shakera Johnson, Nadia Watson and Shantique Virgil; caregiver, Teresa Sanft, two sisters, Nora Jones Newbold and Branhilda Jones Clarke both of Nassau, Bahamas; one brother, Rodney Jones of Fort Perce, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews. Prince was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Prince Hall Lodge # 4, and Constantine Consistory # 25. He enjoyed cooking and was known for his fried chicken and barbeque.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, March 30, 2013 in St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1000 S. 15th Street with Pastor Terry Clark Officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled prior to services from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 P.M. on Saturday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street.
