Patrick Joseph Sheehan

Patrick Joseph Sheehan, 74, of Terre Haute passed away Saturday morning, October 10, 2020.  He was a school teacher at Lost Creek Elementary School and served as principal of Consolidated and DeVaney Elementary Schools and Honey Creek Middle School.  He was born May 12, 1946 in Terre Haute to Francis “Buddy” Sheehan and Nelda Louise Goodwin Sheehan.

Survivors include his children, Brian Sheehan of Terre Haute, Courtney Khouli (Michael) of Indianapolis, IN and Cari Sheehan (Terry Smith) of Carmel, IN;  two granddaughters, Magnolia Khouli and Cordelia Smith;  a brother, Tim Sheehan (Lucy) of Fishers, IN;  a sister, Janice “Tootie” Morris (Danny) of Terre Haute;  and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents;  and a brother, Michael Sheehan.

Pat was a 1964 graduate of Gerstmeyer High School and received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Indiana State University.  He attended St. Benedict Catholic Church, was a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association and served on the Vigo County School Corporation board of directors.  Pat enjoyed watching sports of all kinds, especially Notre Dame football and ISU basketball games.  He loved to travel and be with his family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 AM, Thursday, October 15, 2020 in St. Benedict Catholic Church, 111 South 9 ^th Street, with Father Martin Day, OFM Conv. officiating.  Due to Covid 19 the family kindly requests that masks be used and social distancing be practiced.  Private burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.  There is no visitation, however, a celebration of life may be held at a later date.  If friends should so desire, in lieu of flowers,memorial contributions may be made to the Vigo County School Corporation Backpack Program, c/o Vigo County Education Foundation, 686 Wabash Avenue, P.O.  3703, Terre Haute, IN 47803.  Funeral information is also available at www.callahanandhughes.com .
