Patricia Ruth Denning Lagrange

March 5, 1929 — October 19, 2021

Patricia Ruth Denning LaGrange, 92, passed away of natural causes on October 19, 2021. Pat was born in St Meinrad, Indiana on March 5, 1929, to Theodore and Clara (Loehrlein) Denning.

She attended Indiana State University where she belonged to the Delta Sigma sorority. After obtaining her Bachelors in 1950, Pat began her teaching career at Bristow High School as a Home Economics instructor.

On New Year’s Eve, 1952, Pat married the late Mark LaGrange at St Meinrad Archabbey. Mark passed away in 2008 from injuries sustained in a car accident.  Together the couple raised five children: Constance Mukherjee (Ajit), Candres McCord (Bill), Neil (Rosalinda Hernandez), Terrance (Kim Hendricks), and Louis (Ilo Orleans). Survivors include five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one brother, Tom (Carolyn) Denning of Louisville. One brother, Theodore Denning, Jr., and one sister, LaVerne Miley, preceded her in death.

Pat, Mark, and family moved to Terre Haute in 1960. Pat returned to ISU to obtain a master’s degree in elementary education. She taught at Maryland and Fuqua schools before retiring but continued to hold a lifetime teaching license.

Pat, and her husband, Mark, built Mark’s Par 3 Golf Course in 1963. The course remains in the family to this day.

Pat enjoyed playing the piano and fondly recalled being the organist for the Monte Cassino shrine in her youth. She was a member of St Patrick church and a lifelong season ticket holder for ISU basketball games. Pat visited all fifty states, enjoyed playing bridge, square dancing, and Japanese needlework (bunka).

Private services will be held for the family, with internment at Calvary Cemetery.
