Norman Lee French, 90, of Terre Haute went to be with the Lord Thursday evening, March 12, 2020 at Harrison's Crossing. He was a Conductor and Brakeman with the Pennsylvania and Conrail Railroads. Norman was born September 17, 1929 in Terre Haute to Clarence W. French and Anna Koster French.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 71 years, Thelma Howell French; his daughter, Vickie French of Terre Haute; nieces and nephews; and close friends. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Clarence L. French; and a sister, Dorothy J. Houpt.
Norman was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War and attended Forest Park Baptist Church. He was a member of the Retired Railroadmen's Association and enjoyed watching sports of all kinds. Norman especially enjoyed working in his garden, fishing and woodworking. He was a beloved husband and loving father.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Monday, March 16, 2020 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Pastor Jim Gibson officiating. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday from 4:00-7:00 PM and also prior to services on Monday from 10:00-11:00 AM in the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
