Michael Gartland Grimes, 68 , of Terre Haute passed away Thursday evening, April 25, 2019 at the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care with his loving family by his side. He was born November 1, 1950 in Oshkosh, WI to William M. Grimes and Elizabeth G. Grimes.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Allie Grimes of San Diego, CA; and his brothers and sisters, Beth Haley (Bill) of Terre Haute, Bill Grimes (Peggy) of Terre Haute, Ann Heffelmire (Joe) of Noblesville, IN, David Grimes (Pam) of Terre Haute, Mary Risinger of Excelsior, MN and Pete Grimes (Pam) of Westfield, IN. Also surviving is his aunt, Rose Ann Grimes of Chicago, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Catherine Elizabeth Grimes; and a brother-in-law, Mark Risinger.

Mike was a graduate of Schulte High School and received a bachelor's degree in business from John Carroll University in Cleveland, OH. He was an active Catholic and had most recently attended St. Patrick Catholic Church. Mike was a proud father of his children and volunteered at Union Hospital, Meals on Wheels and Big Brothers-Big Sisters. He was supportive of N.A.M.I., was an avid walker and enjoyed golfing.

Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 AM, Monday, April 29, 2019 in St. Patrick Church, 1807 Poplar Street, with Father Ron Ashmore officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday from 3:00-6:00 PM in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street.
