Michael Joseph Ferency, 84, of Terre Haute passed away peacefully in his residence on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. He was born September 4, 1940 in Terre Haute to Joseph Ferency and Anita Zamani Ferency.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years Dottie Sullivan Ferency: daughter Shelley Klingerman (Kevin); brother, Dale Ferency (Maryann); grandchildren, Quincey, Griffin, Harper, Payton, and Nick; and multiple nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Greg Ferency; and brother, Albert Ferency.
Mike was a member of the 7th Field Artillery Regiment in the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. The latin phrase “Nunquam Fractum”, meaning “Never Broken” was his regiment’s motto and reflected how Mike lived his life. In his later years he would take part in an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. that celebrated his service to our country.
Mike was a 30+ year veteran of the Terre Haute Fire Department and member of both the local and national firefighter’s association. He was also a dedicated parishioner of St. Joseph University Parish.
1 Peter 4:10 says “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” Mike lived a servant life. He served his family, his country, and his community. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be from 10:30 – 12:30 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2025 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 pm in St. Joseph University Parish. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with military honors. The family would like to thank all of Mike’s family and friends who lent a hand over the past few weeks. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to projectneverbroken.org.
