Michael Thomas Eldred, 27 died peacefully and unexpectedly of natural causes on March 12, 2016 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born January 17, 1989 in Terre Haute. He is survived by his parents Judge Michael and Sherry Eldred, his sisters Kate, Christy, Jenny and their husbands, his nephews Henry, Vincent, and Sullivan, grandmother Barbara Thomas, and several loved aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Albert and Pat Eldred, Kenneth Thomas, and aunt Janice Wilder.
Growing up he participated for several years in AAU basketball as part of the Terre Haute Pistols and Vigo County Youth Football. He graduated in 2008 from Terre Haute North Vigo High School where he played many sports and earned 3 varsity letters in football. He graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a minor in criminal justice. He was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity and vice president of his pledge class. He was employed at MainGate Inc. in Indianapolis as an Events Coordinator where he traveled from coast to coast for various events including the Superbowl, Miss America Pageant, and numerous racing events.
He was an avid sports fan who loved all IU Hoosier sports teams, Indianapolis Colts, and Notre Dame football. He was a happy, funny, and kind person that truly loved his family and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 17th from 4:00 7:00 p.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1801 Poplar Street in Terre Haute. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 18th at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Rick Eldred officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Terre Haute Humane Society or Wabash Valley Health Center, formerly St. Ann's Clinic. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street.
